The official Elmore County Jail page states that the jail roster is currently down and instructs the public to call the jail to verify information about current inmates. The Elmore County Jail and Sheriff's Office are located at 2255 East 8th North, Mountain Home, ID 83647. The jail phone is 208-587-9103, fax is 208-587-3438, and the sheriff main phone is 208-587-3370. For dispatch or non-emergency matters, the county lists 208-587-2100.

Because the county roster is unavailable, the jail phone is the source for current county custody confirmation, not an online county search form.
The roster-down notice also means no active Elmore County jail roster search fields or live sample county inmate profile could be inspected. Older references to a jailroster.elmorecounty.org host did not provide a working official roster during the research pass. Use state or notification systems only for their proper scope: IDOC for state custody or supervision, VINE for victim notification, and Idaho State Police for sex-offender registry records.
How to Confirm Current Custody
With the county roster down, current custody confirmation should go directly to the Elmore County Jail. The sheriff records request process can be used for public booking or report records when release is allowed, but a records request is not the fastest way to verify whether someone is presently housed in jail. If the person may be in state custody, under probation or parole, or outside the county jail, use IDOC Resident/Client Search.

- Have the person's full name, approximate age or birth year, and any known booking, case, or arrest details ready.

IDOC Resident and Client Search Fields

IDOC is useful when the person is not in Elmore County Jail or may be under state supervision, but it does not replace the jail phone for local custody.

Booking, Court, and Bond Status
Booking is the jail-side intake record after arrest. The court case is separate. A person may be booked before formal charges are finalized, and the court docket may later show a complaint, information, citation, amended charge, hearing, bond order, plea, disposition, or sentence. For filed charges and hearing status, use iCourt and the Elmore County District Court clerk. For current custody and jail release status, call the jail.
Bond can be posted through a bond agent, by cash bond, or through AllPaid using the QR code on the jail page. Cash bond requires the entire amount in exact change. A separate $10 Sheriff's Bond fee applies to each bond and must also be paid in exact change. Detention staff does not keep change. Cash bond is collateral for court appearance and does not resolve charges or fines. The jail page warns that failure to appear can forfeit the bond and lead to an arrest warrant.
Visitation Hours and Rules
Elmore County Jail uses onsite and remote video visitation. Visitors must create a visitation account either at the kiosk in the jail lobby or through InmateSales. The county recommends scheduling at least 24 hours in advance so the inmate has an opportunity to accept the visit, although the recommendation is not listed as a hard requirement. Inmates receive three free onsite visits per week. All personal visits are subject to monitoring and recording.

Mail, Books, Phone, and VINE
Mail must show the inmate's full name legibly on the envelope and include the sender's complete and correct name and return address. Do not include letters from anyone besides the sender, except letters from children. Do not use tape, stickers, attachments, musical or electronic cards, Polaroid or nude photographs, extra stamps, paper, envelopes, perfume, cologne, or chemicals. Violating mail is returned to sender. Paperback books and magazines must come directly from a publisher or retail outlet.

VINE is for custody notification and status alerts, not for replacing the jail phone when immediate local custody verification is needed.
Commissary, Money, Property, and Work Release
Money may be deposited through the jail lobby kiosk or online through JailATM deposits. Care packages are also routed through JailATM. Inmate commissary funds may be used for snacks, hygiene, stationery, and similar approved purchases. The official jail page identifies these channels but does not publish a county fee schedule beyond the bond and work-release rules captured in the research.

Care packages are separate from bond and court payments, so verify the purpose of any payment before using a vendor site.

Deposits support inmate commissary funds and should not be confused with court fines, bail, or the separate sheriff bond fee.
Sheriff Records Requests
The Sheriff's Office Records Request Form is the public-record route for sheriff records when the record is public and not exempt. The form asks for requester name, address, daytime telephone number, email address, document or report request details, photograph request details, signature, and date. The research notes that photo CD cost is $2 plus mailing and that photos cannot be emailed. Public sheriff records are reviewed by the Elmore County Prosecutor's Office for exemptions.
The sheriff form says to allow three business days after receipt for identification, review, analysis, and exemptions. If more time is needed, Elmore County will notify the requester in writing and provide records no later than ten working days unless conversion requires additional mutually agreed time. A denial or partial denial may be challenged in district court within 180 calendar days of mailing of the denial or partial denial.
